Contact Lens Specialist, Comprehensive Eye Exams, Management of Ocular Disease
Louisa C. Gaiter Johnson, O.D. received both her Doctor of Optometry degree and B.S. in Visual Science from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in 2008.
She completed her undergraduate studies at Howard University, in Washington, DC, graduating Cum Laude, and earning a B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry where she was very active in her community, sorority, and campus organizations.
Dr. Johnson completed her training at the Philadelphia Veterans Affairs Hospital, Omni Eye Services of Atlanta, Georgia, and the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, where she received honors for her clinical work. Dr. Johnson is licensed to treat and manage ocular diseases such as glaucoma, diabetes, age-related macular degeneration, and anterior/posterior segment pathology.
She serves as the contact lens specialist at Total Eye Care & Cosmetic Laser Centers, where she fits and evaluates all types of contact lenses including soft, gas permeable, hard, astigmatic, multifocal, and keratoconus lenses. She also treats the pediatric populations that have amblyopia with an aggressive treatment using the blackout contact lens, which has phenomenal results.
In addition, Dr. Johnson’s interests include ocular disease, visual therapy, and co-management of our cataract and LASIK patients.
Dr. Johnson is a familiar face at the office of Total Eye Care. She completed an externship at this site, focusing on primary ocular care, contact lens fittings and related ocular infections, emergency, pre and post-operative LASIK/cataract examinations, and glaucoma management.
Dr. Johnson holds membership in the American Optometric Association and Pennsylvania Optometric Association. She enjoys traveling, cycling, and spending time with her family.
